Magic Of Music – Music as a learning method for Children!

Music plays a very important role in the early years. The moment a baby hears its mother’s voice singing a lullaby, music starts to do its magic on the development of the little one.

Music is a very powerful educational tool for enhancing memory, concentration, language and motor skills. It also fosters creativity and helps to strengthen emotional ties with the surroundings.

We at The Clay House incorporate music as an important learning method for children. It not only makes education more fun but also improves retention of information and awakens curiosity to discover new things.

We believe music activities don’t require a lot of resources. With a little creativity and enthusiasm, our educators at TCH make this experience very enriching.

Some of the musical activities that we do at The Clay House include:

• Song circles – we make the children sit in a circle and sing songs with actions such as “The Itsy Bitsy Spider,” “The Wheels on the Bus,” or the “Hokey Pokey.” Children have fun singing and moving! It is a great way to enhance learning and body language.

• Musical games – children clap their hands and stamp their feet in a rhythmic pattern. This helps to improve their coordination and concentration.

• Create your own instruments – at TCH, we make drums out of the boxes, maracas out of recycled bottles. This is so much fun as it introduces children to musical exploration.

• Musical stories – We narrate and enact stories with children in which they participate with sounds and songs to make the story more interactive and entertaining.

The importance of music in early years’ education is not just an addition to the curriculum; instead, it goes much beyond that. It enhances cognitive development by improving memory, attention and problem–solving skills. It improves literacy and pre-reading skills among children through rhythm and repetition. It boosts their motor skills through dancing and playing instruments and encourages social development by fostering cooperation.

It is not only a fundamental tool for the overall development of children, but it also has a very positive impact on all areas of their learning. As parents and educators, we should include music into our children’s daily lives whether through songs, games or creative activities as it is a beautiful way to connect with them.

Let’s sing, dance and learn with music!
